StatTools ist ein Add-in zu Excel. Das heisst Sie arbeiten mit Excel, wobei Excels Statistik durch Palisades Add-in ersetzt wurde: Gewohnte Software-Umgebung, höhere Genauigkeit, die üblichen Statistiken (36 Prozeduren) der beschreibenden Statistik, Zeitreihenanalyse mit Vorhersagen, Normalitätstests, Gruppenvergleiche (Diskriminant und logistische Regression), Korrelation, Regression, Qualitätskontrolle etc.

Die Pro-Version von StatTools enthält ausserdem:

• eine vollständige objekt-orientierte Programmier-Schnittstelle: Mit Excels VBA-Programmiersprache lassen sich dann eigene statistische Prozeduren hinzufügen.
• Wenn Sie keine eigenen statistischen Prozeduren schreiben wollen, so können Sie als Pro-Anwender auch Prozeduren anderer Autoren nutzen.
• die Möglichkeit für Variablen, die mehrere Excel-Arbeitsblätter umfassen (bis zu 65,535 X 255 Zellen oder mehr als 16 Millionen Fälle für eine einzige Variable - die Standard-Version erlaubt 10,000 Datenpunkte für eine Einzelvariable).

Quality Control Charts: This set of procedures produces control charts that allow you to see whether a process is in statistical control. Each of the procedures takes time series data and plots them in a control chart. This allows you to see whether the data stay within the control limits on the chart. You can also tell if other nonrandom behavior is present, such as long runs above or below the centerline. Each of these procedures provides the option of using all the data or only part of the data for constructing the chart. Furthermore, each lets you base the control limits on the given data or on limits from previous data.
